Who we are, in a few words

Capa na Baixa is a traditional Portuguese restaurant and beer house in downtown Porto (Baixa), on Praça de Dom João I, next to Teatro Rivoli and a few minutes' walk from Avenida dos Aliados and Bolhão Market. It grew out of Capa Negra II, founded on 30 August 1972 by the four Fontes brothers, and keeps the same Porto cooking: the francesinha with a secret-recipe sauce (traditional, extra spicy or vegan), the city's most famous beef rissóis, charcoal-grilled meats, cod dishes, pasta finished in a Pecorino wheel, pizzas and homemade desserts. It seats 120+, has a terrace, a unique indoor garden, a children's menu, vegetarian options and group and corporate menus. Average spend €15–25 per person. Online reservations accepted.

We were here two years ago. Today we're back to try the best carbonara of our lives, prepared by Andre. It was worth travelling 15 hours from Moscow just for this.

Um grande padrão da cidade do Porto. Soube renovar-se e expandir-se mantendo sempre o seu caráter. Simplesmente os melhores rissóis de carne do mundo!

Lovely atmosphere and the best francesinha I had in Porto. The kids menu is great too. Honestly a must when visiting Porto.

I've been here maybe 10x over the years. The steak is consistently so good that I keep recommending it. Their francesinhas are also very good.

Após percorrer vários restaurantes à procura da tradicional francesinha, insatisfeito com os "novos" estabelecimentos, voltámos ao que conhecíamos. O espaço, uma recordação do passado.
